How to make a con nice, for all of us

So, I often tend to complain about cosplayers and con-goers, and how messy they are. Beginning at school made me realize, messy people are everywhere. And they tend to strike a nerve, because we all need to be here. My room is messy, but I'm the only one there. But conventions, schools, train stations, every public place we go, there are bound to be other people. And sure, many people in one place will produce waste, and things will get dirty. But if everybody uses the same, easy reminders, the place will appear more appealing to the eye. And trust me, most of it won't even take a minute ;)

- Take your trash to the trashcan and the dishes to the assigned spot
You carried your food all the way to the table, lawn, corner etc. And since food provides the body with energy, no saying "it's too hard to throw it out". And if the trashcan is full, try finding another, and report the problem at the information, then they'll find someone to deal with it.
And the dishes often have an assigned spot, or you can place it at the counter. You saved the waiter a few steps, and made the table ready for the next guests.

- Put the bottle in the recycle spot, or place it next to the trashcan
This is most relevant to Denmark and other countries with a deposit system. If you aren't near a recycle spot, and don't feel like carrying around empty bottles, then place them next to the trashcan. That way other people can benefit from them, homeless, students and others who could use a little extra money.

- If you drop it, pick it up
It's not that hard, really, but it's a skill many people seem to be missing. Did you drop paper/waste/whatever in the toilet/hall/dining area/whatever, pick it up. A toilet is much more appealing when it's tidy, rather than having paper and empty toilet paper rolls all over the floor.
Did you hit something when walking past it, a book, stuff from the shelf and etc. then pick it back up. Accidents happen, and you can save thing from being stepped on, and possibly broken.

- Make a mess, clean it up
Did you leave make-up in the sink, paint on the walls, pee on the toilet seat, or spill half your drink on the table? Clean it up, as much as possible. Most problems can be helped with a quick paper swipe, or tools within range. You don't have to make it shining clean, just make sure the next person can use it.

- Report it
If you stumble upon a problem,or something that is out of order, then report it. The information can contact the right people to fix it, so nobody else have to end up with the same problem. A very well-known problem is the lack of toilet paper, and you are stuck with the choices to shake it, knock on the next stall, or call a friend on the phone. And while the staff probably don't have access to more paper, they can contact the people in charge and tell them.

- Make space for others
Is your bag having it's own seat, or are 5 of your friends waiting in line with you, or maybe you are hanging out in the hall? Then please mind other people, and try to make space for them. Try to be aware of your surroundings, and avoid sudden stops in crowded areas. Hanging with friends is fun, but often groups tend to grow in number, and all of a sudden, traffic jam. And if your cosplay have parts that touches the floor, then please pick it up, mostly for your own sake, when walking in crowded areas, where not everyone has a chance to see it.

See, it isn't really that hard to make it nice for all of us! Feel free to post your own ideas or suggestions, and spread the word :D
